The event at Hotel Mariakapel was in conjunction with the month-long installation project, Terrarium, created by the Reclamation collective, which recombines practices of art, worship, and exploration in spaces designed to allude to the studio, the gallery, and the house of god. Set within a 500-year old church, theTerrarium installation was created with used materials collected from the Hoorn recycling center and Hotel MariaKapel from previous installations; approximately 1 truck container worth of used materials. Cymatic, audio/visual installation by Hazel Hill McCarthy III used the sounds from the live performances to distort looped found footage of the American Flag on liquid Berlin based artist collective, dev01ded, will perform up/routed a performance based on "Plants' roots must be buried in order to live while humans are only buried when they are dead or meant to die. We bury our fears and traumas deep inside ourselves hoping they will slowly disintegrate, but we end up rotting out from the inside. Physically routed to their own system of interactive video, sound, and light, dev01ded, embodying their fears, will be slowly buried within an hourglass of dirt and technology, and he who buries them further entrenching himself in fear." During the day London artists Lewis Wright and Richard Hougeuz created an audial territory around the gallery on an occupied radio frequency. In a similar way to how bees scout out a radius from their hive, a survey of sonic ecologies was carried out in the surrounding area of the building, mapping the transmissions through a customised receiver. Live performances by Modern Witch, Stellar Om Source and Lola Loshkey. New solo music performed by Douglas J. McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb). September 11, 2010 A.D. September 12, 2010 A.D.
