Lewis Wright and Richard Houguez Edging the Swarm,
Hoorn, Netherlands 9/11/2010
As part of { Sonic Horticulture }, an audial territory was created around the gallery on an occupied radio frequency. In a similar way to how bees scout out a radius from their hive, a survey of sonic ecologies was carried out in the surrounding area of the building, mapping the transmissions through a customised receiver.
The sound is composed of synthesised and distorted music with vocal chantings, drawing on the ritualised practices of keeping bees across different cultures.
